Powered by THE HEALTH CAPTAINS CLUB, THE HEALTH CAPTAINS INSTITUTE serves as a transdisciplinary think-and-do tank for strategic leadership in sustainable health innovation. The Institute focuses on developing strategy studies for Europe’s more than 250 University and Academic Medical Centers (UMCs/AMCs), as well as for Health Foundations, the healthcare industry, insurance, science, and policy leaders. Its mission: to align regional, national, and international efforts toward Healthy Longevity, Blue Zone Communities, and One Health as pillars of a global Lifecare movement.
Operating as the strategic and academic core of the CLUB, the Institute is guided by an expert faculty of up to 50 THCC members, drawn from the CLUB’s Board and CORE leadership system. Through CORE-Teams, Think Tanks, and Brainpools, the Institute delivers actionable insights and publishes white papers that build a shared knowledge network and information commons across disciplines and geographies.
The Institute also champions the integration of 4P strategies – Public-Private-Philanthropic Partnerships – in collaboration with Health Foundations (with over 1,000 in Germany alone) to drive system-level breakthroughs in sustainable medicine. These efforts are embedded within a broader European strategy, including the BERLIN FORUM Leadership Summit, which convenes key UMC and AMC leaders to shape the future of academic medicine.
Founded during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic as a united response to global health challenges, the Institute now plays a central role in guiding the transition from “sickcare” to lifecare. As inspired by Jonas Salk, the guiding ethos is:
“Our greatest responsibility is to be good ancestors.”
