Leadership Protocol of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE

From the Desk of the College Dean & College Founding Director

Dear and honored Health Captains,

Dear and honored Faculty Members and Academy Chairpersons of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE,

Dear Colleagues, dear Friends and dear Health Captains Alumnis,

Your ongoing support and donations, everybody’s inputs and network integration to built and run THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE is very much appreciated and mirrors our Mission: “LEADERSHIP FOR EXPLORING SUSTAINABLE HEALTH“.

This document outlines the foundational leadership protocol for THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE. It is intended as your Reference and Compass as we evolve from the initial Club Chapter structure now for the purpose of the College into a future-driven additional Academy model to act synchronized together.

This transition reflects our commitment to strategic clarity, focused collaboration, and deep respect for human cognitive capacity, guided by the principles of Neuroleadership — specifically Dunbar’s Number (5-15-50-150) — and interdisciplinary synergy as described in the Medici Effect and finally the strategic Tipping Point Number 150.

Our goal is to enable high-impact collaboration within a structured but flexible framework that supports our mission: Lifecare Leadership and Innovation in Medicine.

I. Leadership Framework of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE

To ensure strategic alignment, accountability, and agility across the College, the following five-tier leadership structure is hereby adopted:

  1. Honorary Dean
The Honorary Dean provides strategic oversight, serves as a bridge across all Academies, and represents the College in the wider ecosystem of The Health Captains Club. This role ensures coherence of mission and alignment with the broader Lifecare strategy.

  2. Academy Honorary Chairs
Each of the five Academies is led by one to three appointed Academy Chairs out of the Twin-, Topic-, Talent-Chaptersystem of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS CLUB. These leaders are responsible for setting the Academy’s strategic agenda, guiding the Core Team, initiating Think Tanks, and collaborating with other Chairs and the College Dean. Chairpersons must act as role models of interdisciplinary leadership and cross-sector navigation. Honorary Academy Chairs must be Members of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS CLUB first.

  3. Academy Core Teams
Each Academy will establish a dedicated Core Team, limited to a maximum of 5 Members of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS CLUB. This team forms the operational nucleus of the Academy and is tasked with implementation, coordination of activities, and internal development. The Core Team must maintain a high level of communication, shared ownership, and trust.

  4. Academy Think Tanks
Think Tanks are task-specific, time-bound working groups designed to explore defined questions, challenges, or innovation opportunities within each Academy. They draw upon members from Core Teams, Brainpools, and external experts. Their size will be intentionally small (maximum of 15 Members) to preserve effective communication and cross-pollination of ideas.

  5. Academy Brainpools
Each Academy may maintain a Brainpool of advisors, experts, and contributors, not exceeding 50 Participants per Dunbar’s Number. This group forms the extended knowledge base of the College, contributing to Think Tanks, mentoring activities, and collaborative ventures as needed. Brainpool members may be drawn from across The Health Captains Club and external networks.

This structure ensures that our academic and leadership collaboration remains human-centered, high-trust, and innovation-driven.

II. The Five Core Academies

The College’s academic engine will operate through five focused Academies, each reflecting a strategic domain central to our mission. Each Academy Chairperson is entrusted with shaping the direction and culture of their respective Academy.

1. Lifecare Academy
The Lifecare Academy focuses on advancing personalized, preventive, and integrated health approaches. It explores innovative pathways for patient-centered care, value-based medicine, and population health strategies across all life stages with the focus on HEALTHSPAN Medicine, Science & Economy.

2. Governance Academy
The Governance Academy addresses ethical, legal, regulatory, and systemic challenges towards value-based Healthcare and value-based Lifecare. It cultivates responsible governance models, health diplomacy, and cross-sector frameworks for navigating complex health ecosystems.

3. Leadership Academy
The Leadership Academy supports the development of transformative leaders in medicine and health systems. It integrates systems thinking, neuroleadership, and organizational behavior to empower current and future decision-makers.

4. Mentorship Academy
The Mentorship Academy ensures robust knowledge and network transfer and professional development through structured mentoring. It connects generations of health leaders and scholars and fosters a culture of reflective learning and growth.

5. Entrepreneurship Academy
The Entrepreneurship Academy empowers innovators, intrapreneurs, and startup builders to translate health ideas into scalable impact. It supports venture development, innovation cycles, and systems entrepreneurship in alignment with health equity and sustainability.

III. Faculty Protocol and Membership

The Faculty of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE is limited to a maximum of 50 active Members. This limit reflects our commitment to deep collaboration, active participation, and cognitive coherence across leadership roles. Faculty members are expected to:

  • Contribute to at least one Academy in a leadership, mentorship, or advisory capacity.

  • Participate actively in cross-Academy collaboration and College-wide events.

  • Uphold the values of The Health Captains Club and serve as Ambassadors of the College’s vision.

Academy Chairs are responsible for reporting Academy progress to the Dean on a quarterly basis and initiating cross-Academy collaboration where needed. Chairs are also expected to maintain clear succession planning and ensure diversity of expertise and perspective within their teams.

IV. Synchronization with THE HEALTH CAPTAINS INSTITUTE and THE HEALTH CAPTAINS CLUB

As part of our commitment to impactful and forward-looking leadership, THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE aligns its strategic vision, operational actions, and communication channels closely with the broader goals of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS INSTITUTE and THE HEALTH CAPTAINS CLUB. Together, we form a unified and powerful leadership mission centered on

“Leadership for Exploring Sustainable Health.”

This shared mission integrates the Institute’s focus on strategic studies across universities, academic medical centers, and health foundations; its role in positioning sustainable medicine as a key regional competitive advantage; and its dedication to converging sustainable healthcare models—including healthy longevity, Blue Zones, and One Health paradigms. Moreover, through coordinated synchronization of regional, national, and global initiatives, our collective efforts strive to accelerate the superconvergence of sustainable value-based healthcare, accessible healthy longevity medicine, community-based Blue Zones care, and One Health lifecare.

This alignment ensures that our College’s leadership not only advances cutting-edge knowledge and practice within our Academies but also contributes to a larger ecosystem dedicated to creating lasting health impact for current and future generations.

V. Implementation Principles

This Academy structure is designed to be adaptable yet grounded. Each Academy must evolve based on its internal momentum and external relevance, but always within the bounds of our core values:

  • Small is powerful: Limit group sizes to encourage trust, dialogue, and efficiency.

  • Diversity is intelligence: Blend backgrounds, professions, and disciplines for creative insight.

  • Leadership is service: Academy Chairs and Core Teams serve as stewards, not gatekeepers.

  • Lifelong learning is foundational: Every member is both a teacher and a learner.

  • Collaboration is culture: We succeed through shared purpose, not positional power.

Let this ACADEMY COOKBOOK of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE serve as both an operational guide and an invitation to lead boldly, collaborate generously, and shape the future of health together. You are each a steward of this vision, and through disciplined structure and inspired action, we will translate our values into lasting impact.

Your Input is always welcome and this Cookbook serves as a living document taking together action towards sustainable Medicine for sustainable Health for our Generation having the Privilege to be the First Generation towards Lifecare for the Generations to come.

Welcome on Board: Our greatest responsibility is to be good ancestors.

With respect and resolve,

Dr. Henri Michael von Blanquet

CHATHAM HOUSE RULE – Internal Application at THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE

To foster open, trust-based, and solution-oriented dialogue within the Academies, CORE teams, THINK-TANKs, and BRAINPOOLS of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS COLLEGE, the following rule applies to selected sessions and discussions:

“Participants are free to use the information shared during a session held under the Chatham House Rule, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.”

Purpose and Value Within the College:

  • Encourages open, honest, and creative dialogue across disciplines and sectors.

  • Protects individual perspectives, early-stage ideas, or critical viewpoints.

  • Creates a safe and respectful space for reflection, leadership development, and systemic thinking.

Application Note:

The Chatham House Rule is clearly communicated in advance and applies only to those parts of a session explicitly designated as such. It does not replace general confidentiality rules but serves as a cultural framework for ethical leadership behavior.

Suggested Reminder at the Start of a Session:

“This part of the meeting is held under the Chatham House Rule. You are welcome to use the insights gained here, but please do not attribute any comments to specific individuals or disclose their affiliations.”

This statement can also be used as a standard clause in invitations, footnotes of agendas, or discussion guidelines by the Dean, the Academy Chairs, the Chairs of Core-, Think Tank-, Brainpool-Teams.

“ What drives me is a kind of motto in life. You have to try to think the unthinkable. If we don’t ask questions, we don’t get answers. I think it is important to carefully analyze dogmas that exist in different areas of life. Even in the scientific field, it is not always credible what these dogmas convey to us – however, they occasionally erect intellectual fences that we must try to tear down.”

PROFESSOR HARALD ZUR HAUSEN

President Emeritus German Cancer Research Center DKFZ

Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine

“Traditionally the cooperation in the healthcare industry is not a well established matter. Currently, there is also the fact that the cooperation between the analogue and digital health worlds must first be developed. Places of exchange are very welcome. Congratulations for your work and good luck in the future!”

PROFESSOR HEINZ LOHMANN

President GESUNDHEITSWIRTSCHAFTSKONGRESS

At the latest in the face of the global corona pandemic, we have to completely restructure medicine, health sciences, health industry and the health systems worldwide towards sustainability.
